Leaves up to 1/3 as wide as long; flowers white to pink.

Stem square, angles sharp or winged

Rhexia virginica, Virginia Meadowbeauty
Native, coastal plain only
Stem angles conspicuously winged; leaves up to 1/2 as wide as long; flowers purple.

Rhexia ventricosa, Square-stem Maryland Meadowbeauty
Native, coastal plain only
Stem angles not conspicuously winged; flowers white to pink.
