The site consists of three parts:
About dates: At first I was using "circa" (ca); where I wasn't sure of a date, but that seemed to imply more knowledge than I had in many cases, so I switched to marking them with a question mark. Many are just guesses, but they do serve to order the pictures on the pages. Where I haven't even guessed a date, a bullet (•) is shown; those items will usually be listed before any with dates assigned.
About links: By "links" I mean text on a web page that can be clicked with the mouse to show another page. Typically they look like this or this. This site is designed to show them in a medium blue color, switching to white on dark blue when the mouse moves over them, like this. I know that's not the standard way to show links; I hope it is not too confusing.
